Interesting fact: I travel a lot and have been to 30 countries in the last four years. I have been chased by a wildebeest whilst driving an ATV in Cambodia!
What attracted you to work in Private Client?
During my LPC I was able to choose from several electives and, as I had enjoyed the Wills module, I chose to study Private Client in more detail. This area of law fascinated me. From this point onwards and, when I started my training contract, I was already pretty sure it was the area I wanted to qualify into.
I was fortunate enough to be given Private Client as my first seat and this confirmed that this was an area which really interested me. I enjoyed the variety of the work, the client contact and the technical intricacies of trust and tax law. Every client’s situation is different and it is extremely rewarding to be able to assist with, and find solutions to, the problems they are encountering, whether it be setting up a trust, making a will or estate and tax planning advice. I qualified into the Private Client team in September 2014.

Where are you based?
I was given the opportunity to work cross-office so I work three days a week in Gatwick and two days a week in London. I have always loved working in London, but also enjoy the benefits of working in a regional office, and so the balance has worked perfectly for me. An advantage is that I have had the opportunity to work with, and get to know, my colleagues in our London offices.
What support do you receive with ongoing training?
I am currently studying for my STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Diploma which compliments the work I do on a day to day basis. Irwin Mitchell has been very encouraging towards my learning and I am fortunate
to have the opportunity to work for a firm which invests in the development of its staff.
